Flonzhlens is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Zhodani Consulate and part of Colonnade Province in the Lythgoe Subsector of Fulani Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
- It is a member of the Fulani Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Flonzhlens has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies just within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Flonzhlens is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Flonzhlens has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Flonzhlens has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
- The vast warm oceans are storm-wracked and turbulent.
Satellites[edit]
Flonzhlens retains two small vacuum moons.
- They orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- The oceans are home to gigantic creatures.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Flonzhlens is rapidly becoming the economic heart of the subsector. Its infrastructure is being expanded and its population is growing.
- It has been incorporated into the Zhodani Consulate as part of the Colonnade Administrative District.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
There is regular activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
- Commo is filled with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Zdetl.
- Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A number of vessels will be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Flonzhlens has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a Zhodani Naval Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Flonzhlens has a population of 60,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
A central urban area, located on a large island, surrounded by satellite communities on smaller islands.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is ocean wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Flonzhlens possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)[edit]
Flonzhlens has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- The world is ruled by a military junta.
- It controls the bureaucracy.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 500 personnel.
- Privately retained security personnel support the local armed forces.
World Law (L)[edit]
Flonzhlens has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Three broad categories of crime are recognized by the Zhodani Consulate: inadvertent, incited, and insane. The concept of premeditated crime for personal gain fits under the insane heading.
- Inadvertent crime is an unintentional violation or infraction of the law, resulting from inattention. For minor cases the usual punishment is a small fine.
- Incited crime is an infraction of a law brought about by another, often resulting from an overreaction to inadvertent crime or misfortune. The solution is re-education.
- Insane crime is a general heading for most major crimes against property or individuals.
