Description[edit]

Chant is an economically struggling subsector. Corruption and cronyism are part of the reason; astrography plays a part too, with the region being surrounded by several small- to mid-sized stellar gaps, which impede the flow of information and shipping. Chant is also bordered on its rimward flank by the Chanestin worlds, which are isolationist and therefore rarely trade with outsiders. Relief has begun to flow in from external sources but the subsector has more than its share of kleptocrats who misappropriate funds.

The Chant Subsector is defended by 2nd Fleet.

Subsector Summary: 1116[edit]

Chant, subsector K of Core contains 41 worlds with an estimated population of 13 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,951, and a total economy is BCr81,728. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr22,427 through 37 starports (12 Class A, 22 Class B, 1 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 4,311,095 people. Driving this interstellar trade are seven Agricultural (Ag) worlds, nine Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, five Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, nine Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, seven Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, one Desert (De) world, two Garden (Ga) worlds, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, four Poor (Po) worlds, five Vacuum (Va) worlds, and four Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Chant has an estimated population of 13 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, eight Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 19 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Raami (Core 2330) and Skeen (Core 2226). The population consists of 1 sophont groups.
