Aetna is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in size.

  • The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Star Bridge Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Notes[edit]

The two stars of the Aetna system have an average separation of 40 AU and orbit a barycenter that lies between them.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

  • The mainworld, orbiting the primary star.
  • x7 secondary rocky worlds. Three orbit the primary star, four orbit the secondary star.
  • x3 gas giants. Two orbit the primary star, one orbits the secondary star.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Aetna orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Aetna is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Aetna has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Aetna has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

A single large continent lies along the equator. A number of subcontinental landmasses and multiple archipelagoes and islands dot the oceans. There are substantial polar ice caps.

World Starport[edit]

Aetna has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Aetna possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Aetna is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

World Law Level[edit]

Aetna has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Military[edit]

This system contains both a Confederation Naval and Military base.

World Economy[edit]

Aetna has a fully-developed world economy.

Trade Data[edit]

Aetna maintains cordial trade relations with Valdarno, Hebron and Massina.

World Demographics[edit]

Aetna is a world of 400M sophonts.

World Culture[edit]

As subsector Capital, Aetna is a major hub of cultural influence.

Urbanization[edit]

The planetary capitol is Aetna, a large T-10 city of 10M sophonts. It is located between 2 major rivers that are sourced in a high near coastal mountain range. Its outskirts include coastal towns and a well-equipped sea port with an impressive protective concrete wall.

While Aetna is the largest such city, there are many other cities located on the continent in its class. Inland, there are also large cities located at natural trade crossroads.

The 2 archipelagos closest to the continent also have T-10 cities of around 5M sophonts, including their dolphin citizens.
