Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. No. Category Remarks
1. 100 Tonnage / Hull The Commercial Courier is constructed using a 100-dTon hull built in a generally wedge-shaped configuration. The hull is fully streamlined: the ship is fitted with fuel scoops.
2. Crew x3 crew.
  • The Commercial Courier requires x3 crew: x1 command, x1 engineering, and x1 gunnery.
3. Performance / Engineering Propulsion:

The vessel mounts a DeVoss-type jump-2 drive, a maneuver-4 drive, and a power plant 4, giving performance of jump-2 and 4G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 4. There is fuel tankage of 24 dTons, sufficient for one jump-2 and giving the power plant four weeks duration.

  • The jump drive utilises a lanthanum hull grid.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4. Main Section / Electronics Model/4 ship computer.
  • Adjacent to the bridge is a computer model/4. There are 3 staterooms. Each member of the crew has private quarters.
  • The vessel is fitted with sophisticated communications equipment and an advanced sensor suite.
5. Hardpoints x1 hardpoints.
6. Armament / Weaponry The normal weapons fit-out for it is:
7. Defenses Defensive Equipment:
8. Craft / Drones The ship has a dedicated hanger able to house a vehicle of up to 4-dTons, though no subcraft or vehicles are provided.
9. Fuel Treatment TBD
10. Cost MCr111.810.

The basic cost of the vessel is MCr111.810.

  • The ship is a standard design. Detailed architectural plans are widely available and no design fee is chargeable.
  • If multiple examples of the design are ordered all of the ships in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces their price to MCr89.448.
11. Construction Time TBD months to build, TBD months in quantity.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

A design that dates to the time of the Terran Confederation. The Commercial Courier is fast and has a large onboard computer to store data. The design is representative and a large number of variants exist, particularly with regard to the allotted weapons systems, onboard electronics, and the fit out of internal spaces.

Some conjecture that the design harkens back to an ancient design known as the Type S class Scout/Courier.
