Description (Specifications)

The Commercial Courier is a private vessel commonly encountered throughout the Distant Fringe. It is classified as a Noncombatant Smallcraft and is constructed as a conventional design. Similar designs have been in use from the time the Distant Fringe was first settled.

1.	100 Tonnage / Hull	The Commercial Courier is constructed using a 100-dTon hull built in a generally wedge-shaped configuration. The hull is fully streamlined: the ship is fitted with fuel scoops. Individual sections of the ship are divided by bulkhead walls. Sections of the ship can be isolated in the event of an emergency. The hull includes internal grav plates and inertial compensators. All accessible sections of the hull have life support.

Power Plant-TBD TBD-EPs Agility-TBD The vessel mounts a DeVoss-type jump-2 drive, a maneuver-4 drive, and a power plant 4, giving performance of jump-2 and 4G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 4. There is fuel tankage of 24 dTons, sufficient for one jump-2 and giving the power plant four weeks duration. The jump drive utilises a lanthanum hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Main Section / Electronics	Model/4 ship computer. Adjacent to the bridge is a computer model/4. There are 3 staterooms. Each member of the crew has private quarters. The vessel is fitted with sophisticated communications equipment and an advanced sensor suite.

6.	Armament / Weaponry	The normal weapons fit-out for it is: The ship has a single mixed triple turret mounting two beam lasers and one missile rack.

If multiple examples of the design are ordered all of the ships in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces their price to MCr89.448.

History & Background (Dossier)

A design that dates to the time of the Terran Confederation. The Commercial Courier is fast and has a large onboard computer to store data. The design is representative and a large number of variants exist, particularly with regard to the allotted weapons systems, onboard electronics, and the fit out of internal spaces.

Some conjecture that the design harkens back to an ancient design known as the Type S class Scout/Courier.
