The Shibash class Light Cruiser is a warship.
- It is a military ship and a Cruiser.
- It is a venerated machine from another age, rarely seen within Charted Space anymore.
Description (Specifications)
The Shibash is a typical Vilani light cruiser. It has enough fuel for a single jump 2. It carries a fair amount of armor on its reinforced hull. It was partially streamlined and capable of gas giant wilderness refueling. It carried a trio of ship's boats for interface duties. It carried a platoon of 42 marines. The crew consisted of relies on its size and speed to protect its charges, running alongside while looking for hostiles that might be trying to make flanking attacks. Its lack of capital-ship weaponry is not a drawback in this role, as it is able to shoot at many targets at once. Terran forces have often managed to lure a Shibash into an unequal engagement, drawing one away from the main fleet. Without any support from the main guns of other ships, this vessel is easily destroyed.

History & Background (Dossier)
Never fitted with a spinal mounted weapon this class typically failed to destroy enemy combatants of equivalent size and class. It five large missile bays were put to use in providing long range missile salvos. Provincial governmental officials in fleet procurement sought to reduce costs and only requisitioned dual turrets for the pulse laser and sand caster batteries, when triple turrets were clearly called for. Local yard personnel, knew better than to question orders and dutifully installed the inferior systems. Crews loved the uncrowded conditions as each crew member was afforded individual occupancy staterooms. There were 144 staterooms for the 144 crew. A security detail and marines were embarked. No low watch was provided and the computer had no back up systems, nor fiber optical redundancies. When requisitioned in bulk orders these vessels were less expensive than contemporary classes at their tonnage.
