Addison is an important high-population, industrial vacuum world located in Addison Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector. With 2 billion inhabitants, it is the most populous world in the subsector. The system is non-aligned.

Addison was settled in -2020. Most of its population are Selenites, known for their strong work ethic and communal social system. While neutral, the world has generally been a solid trading partner with the Solomani Confederation.

World Starport (Sp)

Addison has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

Addison has a population of 1,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

World Government

Addison is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

• Government is theoretically a multi-party democracy but a nearly hereditary bureaucracy is widely agreed to be the true authority.
• The Selenite locals have never strongly identified with the Solomani Movement; this has been reciprocated with Purist factions in the Solomani Party resisting Addison's membership. However, the world has generally been a solid trading partner with the Solomani Confederation. About 2% of the population belong to a moderate faction of the Solomani Party and a sizable fraction of the population favour membership in the Confederation.

World Law Level (L)

Addison has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

The system has remained independent of the Solomani Confederation which is a situation both sides seem content with remaining as is.
