875-946 is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a client state of the Third Imperium in the Five Sisters Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors.
- This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- The inhabitants know the world as Prince Edward.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stellar Data
875-496 is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data
875-496 is one of the few worlds which are isolated from the rest of the various mains of the Spinward Marches, being accessible only by a J-3 jump route.
Mainworld Size (S)
875-496 is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
875-496 has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
875-496 has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)
875-496 is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Officially known as 875-496, but locally known as Prince Edward, the world was an accidental colony. It is named after an Escort Cruiser attached to the Izmir Corporation fleet that journeyed into the Marches around -1710. While the fleet was surveying the surrounding region, looking for a suitable world for settlement, the Prince Edward was sent on a deep recon mission into Menorial/Trojan Reaches Sector, and crash landed on the world after a misjump. Listed as missing and having crashed on a remote world, rescue would have been difficult. And because of the fleet's subsequent contact and settlement of Daryen, no rescue mission ever found them.
The survivor's descendants were eventually recontacted about a century later, and the Confederacy established a development mission on the world to uplift it back into the Daryen mainstream. But the Maghiz cut short that project, and the Confederacy had to concentrate upon rebuilding its homeworlds. As Prince Edward was primarily Turkish with few Daryen influences, the loss of contact was less harmful to them than it was for other Daryen colonies.
When the Third Imperium began expanding into District 267, the IISS interdicted the world, placing it firmly under uncontested Imperial control. Because of its non-Imperial culture, the world lay in limbo for most of the Imperial era, as authorities were unsure about its disposition towards being assimilated into the Imperium. The Interdiction was lifted in 885, and a scout base was established to keep in contact with the locals, and eventually bring them into the Imperium as a full member world. The Prince Edwardians are a well organized and cohesive bunch. Their adopted homeworld's mild weather and plentiful food supply prevented inter-communal fighting and strife from developing, and created a tolerant if somewhat wary society. The colony never exceeded more than 40,000 people, and the need for fresh genetic material made them hospitable towards those ship crews and travellers that made their way off of the beaten path to their world. However the colony remained true to its original culture, in spite of the IISS contact personnel's best efforts, and the world remained on the fringes of Imperial development policy.
World Starport (St)
875-946 has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
- The world is host to a Scout Base.
World Population (P)
875-946 has a population of 50,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)
875-946 possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)
875-946 is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Law (L)
875-946 has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

Later Historical Eras
History-Era: Milieu: New Era
After the Collapse, the new Regency reversed many dogmatic and cynical Imperial policies, especially its crony-based economic and development practices. The ecological umbrella group known as NEO received permission to settle Five Sisters underdeveloped worlds with indigenous human populations, including Prince Edward, under the condition that they uplifted the local populations with as little pain or exploitation as possible.
Despite some early tensions, the Edwardians grudgingly accepted this new colonization, and eventually warmed up to their new neighbors. Culturally the world is an eclectic mix, with even a few Darrians, who immigrated in the 1170s, thrown in for good measure. While technological development has been slow, it has a wide range of amenities, and its mild plenty has discouraged widespread dissemination of unnecessary high-tech anyway. The world is now a full member of the Regency, and its Senate delegation is noteworthy for championing liberal policies and challenging older reactionary groups.
