Goals
- Reestablishment of the Dominion of Alntzar (with a generally pro-Zhodani stance).
- Guarantee of interstellar trade and commerce.
The worlds of the region have traditionally adopted a neutral stance, with the Domain being seen as their traditional threat. The recent emergence of the aggressive Descarothe Hegemony has forced a drastic reassessment of strategy, taking attention away from Domain activities.
History & Background (Dossier)
During the 7th and 8th centuries the Dominion was the dominant force in the region, controlling 28 systems at its height, but it was split by dissent and internal warfare in the early early 800s. It is suspected that Imperial interests were behind this upheaval, as the Imperium and its regional allies benefited greatly from the diminishment of the Dominion’s strongly pro-Zhodani government. The collapse of the Dominion and the subsequent weakness of this flank of the Zhodani Consulate was a significant factor during both the Third and Fourth Frontier Wars.
A historical chart showing the Dominion of Alntzar at its height.

Regardless of the cause of the Domain’s disintegration, more than half of its member worlds either rebelled or formally seceded - many eventually unifying into the League Of Suns and the Descarothe Hegemony. Former member worlds Lelaek, Thenstor, Mirayn, Affleck and Nirvana remain independent to the present day. The Domain remains as the rump state of the Dominion, occupying the rimward part of Jungleblut Subsector.
After unsuccessfully attempting to regain lost territories by force or diplomacy, the remnants of the Dominion have spent the last century or so declining into an isolationist and comparatively decadent state. Strict internal security measures remain in place, albeit mostly submerged under a massive bureaucracy. It had stopped being referred to as the Dominion by the 11th century, instead being given the title Domain.
The military is large, but has not deployed in force outside Domain borders since 1021.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Domain's relationships with its neighbors remain poor at best. Substantial "technical assistance" is provided to the Descarothe Hegemony and Nirvana. However, major political and philosophical differences make any lasting accord between these states very unlikely.
The Zhodani Consulate still supports Alntzar, but this backing has waned since the end of the Fourth Frontier War. During the Fifth Frontier War, Alntzar was 'sympathetic' to the Outworld Coalition, but limited its activities to providing facilities for Coalition forces.
