Markham is a binary star system with 12 planets and 21 major satellites. The two stars are 100.1 AU distant from each other and orbit a barycenter 13.6 AU from the primary star. Around the primary star orbits 9 of the planets with the remaining 3 orbiting the secondary star.

Markham is a Solomani world colonized prior to the founding of the Second Imperium. During the Long Night it was a member of the Protectorate of Alba. It functions as a Solomani Navy and Army outpost on the border with the Third Imperium.

World Starport (Sp)

Markham has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Demographics

Markham was colonized by Solomani settlers during the Rule of Man. Owing to its history as a member of the Protectorate of Alba and its location on the fridges of Humaniti settlement, the population is almost entirely descendent from the original Solomani settlers.

Markham has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

Markham has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. Historical Data

Markham was settled by one of the Solomani families that colonized the systems around White. Their political desire for extreme personal and economic freedoms led these families to settle worlds far from the Terran Confederation and First Imperium. During the Rule of Man Markham was integrated into the Second Imperium.

After the collapse of the Second Imperium and the beginning of the Long Night the Protectorate of Alba was founded and Markham became a founding member. The Protectorate was a mutual defense and economic treaty that helped keep the member worlds from experiences the same degradation that other worlds faced. In 198 the Protectorate of Alba joined the Third Imperium as a client state; it was dissolved after the member worlds were granted full citizenship in the Imperium.

In 871 Markham joined the Solomani Confederation as a founding member with the other former Protectorate worlds.
