Some of these Exohierate clans deviate greatly from Aslan cultural norms and are considered tahiwihteakhtau (barbarians) by the Aslan of the Hierate. Many other Exohierate clans identify culturally as Aslan and are viewed as khaleao, a decidedly inferior status but not as irredeemable as that of "barbarian".
