Tai'oarl is a poor, non-agricultural and nonindustrial hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by Aslan sophonts located in the Trichal Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Tai'oarl has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Tai'oarl is a satellite of a gas giant.

The mainworld and its gas giant primary orbit within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • They lie within the zones colder outer H- region.
  • They receive lower levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Tai'oarl is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Tai'oarl has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
  • Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
  • Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
  • The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
  • The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Tai'oarl has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

  • The world experiences low temperatures.
  • Much of the surface is a frigid, hostile environment.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Tai'oarl was an Aslan Ihatei staging post for a colonization effort to spinward-coreward. That effort failed due to a shortage of transport vessels, and the would-be colonists and settlers instead became effectively stranded on Tai'oarl.

The world has been settled by Ihatei Aslan, moving to spinward along the edge of the Great Rift in search of new territories.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Tai'oarl has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Tai'oarl has a population of 60 million.

Urbanization[edit]

Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
  • Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Tai'oarl possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Tai'oarl is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are young governments, coming as a recent change and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 250,000 personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Tai'oarl has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 8 (moderate)
  • Labor: 6 (millions)
  • Infrastructure: 9 (extensive)
  • Efficiency: -2 (below average)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: +1 (important)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 7 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 8 (friendly)
  • Strangeness: A (incomprehensible)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
