Sytak is a nonindustrial, rich, agricultural world with improving living conditions due to a bustling agro-economy.

  • As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • Its economy is bustling and an increase in living conditions is expected in the near future.
  • It is a main world which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
  • It is a subject world of the Korsumug Empire located in the Siridor Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
  • 100% of the population is composed of Jaibok.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

The Sytak system lies in the rimward-trailing corner of Siridor Subsector.

System Data[edit]

A diagram indicating the positions of all of the major worlds and satellites in the system. Distances are noted in AU.

Primary System

  • x1 Mainworld. This is the outer moon of the outer gas giant world and lies within the habitable zone.
  • x2 Secondary rocky worlds.
  • x1 Planetoid belt (very sparse and very wide, considered to be the shattered remains of inner system worlds).
    • The belt contains three very large (Size Code 1) spherical planetoids.
  • x2 Gas giant worlds.
    • One hot gas giant (HGG) orbiting very close to the star.
      • It has a 36 hour orbital period around the star.
      • The atmosphere is gradually boiling away and material streams off of its surface, carried outwards by the stellar wind.
    • One large gas giant (LGG) orbiting within the habitable zone.

Secondary System
630 AU (3.64 light days) distant.

Resonant Orbits
The three rocky worlds orbiting the secondary star have an orbital resonance of 5:3:2 with one another. For every two orbits the outermost of the three worlds completes, the middle world completes exactly three orbits, and the inner world completes exactly five orbits.

Jump Shadow[edit]

The Jump Shadow of the primary star lies at 1.526 AU. The mainworld orbits far beyond the safe jump distance.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Sytak has been designated the mainworld.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

This world is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

This world has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

This world has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Satellites:[edit]

None.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

Native lifeforms[edit]

Extensive, abundant native life. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • The world is home to many types of megafauna.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Sytak is a world that has been entirely taken by the Jaibok.

  • The original human population have been almost entirely displaced.
  • It has been under occupation for around four decades.
  • It has been incorporated into the Korsumug Empire.

The Korsumug Immortal Legion Fleet patrols the system.

World Starport[edit]

Sytak has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Technology Level[edit]

Sytak possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

The tech level, originally at a peak of TL–9, has declined steadily since the Jaibok invasion.

World Government[edit]

Sytak is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

  • The Jaibok military governor is nominally in charge of the world.

World Law[edit]

Sytak has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Military[edit]

A large, disorganized Korsumug military garrison.

  • Jaibok military veterans who have achieved a certain status (typically by achieving the impressive feat of surviving) are granted small estates on Sytak.
  • Higher-ranking veterans are given ranches and plantations to oversee. They typically use captives as their workforce.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources 9 (Moderate)
  • Labor 5 (Hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure 3 (Very limited)
  • Efficiency +3 (Improved)

Trade Data[edit]

Primary exports are animal-derived products such as hides, skins, meat, fluids, horn, and bone.

Manufactured goods of all kinds are in demand.

  • Luxuries find a ready market and command premium prices.

World Demographics[edit]

Population 5,100,000

  • Around 4,900,000 Jaibok, living within and using occupied human buildings and infrastructure. These have been modified to suit Jaibok needs.
    • The majority are ageing military veterans who have moved away from active duty.
  • Approximately 200,000 Humans, largely slaves, low-ranking workers, or skilled captives retained to run the ranches and large estates.

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity 9 (Discordant)
  • Acceptance 6 (Aloof)
  • Strangeness 8 (Very confusing)
  • Symbols 8 (Somewhat abstract)

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly spoken language within the system is Siri, a local dialect of Galanglic.

Historical Data[edit]

The first settlers on the world were hunters and trappers, taking the abundant local lifeforms and processing them (extracting the valuable parts) for trade and sale. The hunters were gradually replaced by ranchers, who were able to selectively breed certain species and take advantage of their instincts and reactions, enabling them to be effectively farmed.

The world prospered. The vast commercial starport handled exports of livestock, meats, and other beast-derived products to markets across the subsector.

The worlds wealth drew the attention of the Korsumug Empire, and despite diplomatic efforts and direct threats from the worlds of the Siridor Trace, the Jaibok invaded in 1066. Although the world was subjugated within a few weeks, resistance cells continued to operate, and with the benefit of local knowledge and advanced technology were able to conduct an extremely effective guerrilla campaign, costing the Jaibok tens of thousands of troops and destroying multiple millions of credits worth of equipment.

The Jaibok response was to depopulate the world, executing leaders and public officials and shipping the bulk of the population to occupied Siridor. The vacant plots, properties, and ranches were granted as gifts to Jaibok veterans, along with a few enslaved humans to act as their servants.

  • As properties become vacant (and squabbles among residents frequently result in fatalities) they are granted to new worthy individuals.

World Timeline[edit]

  • ca 400: First known survey (retrieved from a Talokani data archive).
  • ca 550: A small hunting outpost is sited on the world. It primarily exports hides and skins.
  • ca 800: The world has developed into a full-scale agricultural world, specializing in products derived from large herd-beasts.
  • 1066: the Korsumug Empire occupy the system after a brutal military conquest.
  • 1071: the world is formally incorporated into the Korsumug Empire.

UWP Listing[edit]
