Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Floria is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Floria has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Floria has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Point of Interest: Ancients Ruins[edit]

Floria is one of the wonders of the Trojan Reach and attracts tens of thousands of researchers and tourists every year.

  • The Florians discovered several Ancient installations that were still largely intact and have preserved these ancient technological wonders for display.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Floria is a high population world located in the Yggdrasil Subsector of the Trojan Reach. It is the subsector capital.

  • The mainworld is also the capital of the Florian League, and the permanent population is almost entirely Floriani. This is a dimorphic humanoid species, comprised of strong Feskal workers and more slightly built Barnai thinkers. The latter are responsible for administering the League as a whole.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Floria has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • There are actually two distinct ports, one which serves the Florians and another for offworlders, the latter called the Starport of Welcomes.
  • A Naval Base of the A'noss Rianell Floriani, the Florian War Group, is attached.

World Population (P)[edit]

Floria has a population of 6,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

  • High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
  • The population consists mostly of Floriani, a species of Humaniti divided into two complementary subraces. The diminutive Barnai are the leaders and intellectuals; the hulking Feskals the labour. Feskals are obedient to Barnai.

World Demographics[edit]

Although some Floriani genetic sequences can also be found in other species of Humaniti, the overall genetic structures are very different. Scientists speculate (correctly) that the two Florian races are completely artificial constructs, built by the Ancients on a template of Human DNA.

World Languages[edit]

Urbanization[edit]

The enormous metropolis of Huj Bhehet holds much of the population. In the heart of Talenek, the largest component city, is the Old Palace. This sprawling complex covers several square miles.

Visitors gasp in awe at the Seven Towers, and ponder the primordial mysteries of the Well of Lights. However, all the way through a visit to Floria, a Traveller is aware of the constant, unobtrusive presence of Barnai administrators and their Feskal servants. If a tourist lingers too long in one section, the Barnai politely suggests he move along to the next designated viewing area. From the Starport of Welcomes and approved 'safe' tourist zones, the whole experience is designed to prevent curious visitors from truly understanding Floria. This planet does not contain a 'few' Ancient relics -- the whole of Floria’s capital city is one vast Ancient structure.

The main cloning facility on Floria is in the city of Drix Neh'hebid, concealed within a mountain in a more temperate zone. A secondary cloning facility lies under Huj Bhehet.

World Government (G)[edit]

Floria is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

Within the Florian League, councilors are chosen from among the Barnai populace by lottery.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Floria has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

The government is supported by a standard bureaucracy, which also administers the Floriani legal system. This legal system is similar to Imperial law, with a judge (from the bureaucracy) and a jury of five. However, there are no set crimes and punishments: unlike in the Imperium, where one attempts to discover whether a specific crime was committed, the Floriani system tries to determine if what was done constitutes a crime; depending on context it might not be.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Floria possesses a Technology Level of TL–15 or TL-F in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Military[edit]

Ziru Sirka (-2422).png

The Florian military is mostly composed of Feskal soldiers, along with citizens of Solomani, Vilani, and on occasion Aslan descent. Overall command is with Barnai officers.

World Economy (Ex)[edit]

The Florian League currency is the tlientir.

The League imposes a moderate income tax on all citizens and resident non-citizens. This tax is supplemented by various fees paid to the government for services.
