Marsus is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.

  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
  • It is a member of The Protectorate in the Inverness Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.
  • This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Marsus is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Marsus has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Marsus has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

As with many worlds in this part of Far Frontiers, Marsus is named for a member world of the old Interstellar Confederacy in Core Sector, from whom early ex-Imperial colonists in the region were descended.

Marsus is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.

As a member of The Protectorate, Marsus sends a specially selected Representative to the High Council, the polity's governing body.

  • The role is prestigious and is highly sought.
  • The Representative is chosen by the world's leader.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Marsus has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Marsus has a population of 1,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

Linguistic Topography[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Marsus possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Marsus is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. This is a continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and been replaced by allies or protégés. The justifications for the original change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.

World Law (L)[edit]

Marsus has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: D (very abundant)
  • Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
