Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using Classic Traveller Book 5 High Guard. |
The KA15c Glutton class Transport is an auxiliary.
- It is a paramilitary ship and a Transport.
- It is a development of earlier military transports with lower Jump potential.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Glutton class is an auxiliary vessel of the Korsumug Empire.
- The class is operated by the Imperial Korsumug Navy.
- The vessel is a Jansa design.
- It is typically crewed by Jaibok.
- It is a TL–12 design.
Examples of the class serve with the Glorious Triumph Fleet.

KA15c Glutton class Transport.
General Description[edit]
The Glutton class is an auxiliary transport with 2-G and J-3 performance. It is a large, slow ship, equipped with strong sandcaster defenses and a laser battery most commonly used in a point defense role. The design is fully streamlined, giving good atmospheric performance and enabling it to perform surface landings.
Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. Basic Ship Characteristics [2] | ||
---|---|---|
No. | Category | Remarks |
1. | Tonnage / Hull | The KA15c Glutton class Transport is constructed using a 1,500 dTon hull built in a wedge configuration. The hull is streamlined and has good atmospheric capability: its atmospheric handling characteristics are improved by airfoil surfaces and its onboard gravitic systems.
|
2. | Crew | x32 personnel.
Accommodations
Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.
|
3. | Performance | The vessel mounts a Jump-3 drive, a Maneuver-2 drive, and a fusion Power Plant-3, giving performance of Jump-3 and 2-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 1 and an emergency agility of 2. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for one Jump-3 and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.
|
4. | Electronics | Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/4 fib computer. A backup Model/4 fib is installed in engineering.
The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a standard sensor array, and has an Avionics suite.
|
5. | Hardpoints | x25 hardpoints.
|
6. | Armament | The normal weapons fit-out for a Glutton class is:
x5 triple Beam Laser turrets, forming one battery of 5 linked turrets. |
7. | Defenses | The hull has no additional armor.
x10 triple Sandcaster turrets, forming five batteries of 2 linked turrets.
|
8. | Craft | Flight Section:
x2 10-dTon KU1a Fetch class Launches. The subcraft are housed in a dedicated hanger: the hanger can be sealed and has a total volume of 26 dTons. |
9. | Fuel Treatment | The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 495 Tons.
|
10. | Cost | The basic cost of the vessel is MCr1,013.952
The price does not include the cost of the launch:
With its subcraft, a discounted Glutton class costs MCr821.018 |
11. | Construction Time | 123 weeks as standard, 99 weeks in bulk.
|
12. | Comments | Standard cargo capacity amounts to 530 dTons.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Glutton class transport is a common type of auxiliary used by the Korsumug Empire, typically serving as a major support vessel. They carry stores and supplies and are frequently also used as troop transports, with their spacious holds fitted out as accommodations.
- Glutton class transports operate as support vessels for Jaibok raiding groups.
The type was designed by the Jansa, a minor race closely allied with the Jaibok. Examples of the Glutton class can be encountered throughout Mavuzog Sector and Theta Borealis Sector.
Early low-jump examples of the class served on the Korsumug Main, where they saw frequent active service. A number of redesigns with more powerful J-Drives were fielded as the Korsumug Empire began to venture to worlds further from the Main. This ultimately resulted in the KA15c variant, equipped with a Jump-3 drive, though at the expense of reduced cargo capacity compared to earlier versions.
- Glutton class Transports often pair with a Fecund class carrier, carrying vehicles and equipment for its troops.
Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]
Vessel Peculiarities:
The design is capable of independent operations and can transport large quantities of cargo and supplies in their roomy holds. The vessel is primarily equipped for defense and is rarely seen without an escort, typically a Fecund class Assault Carrier, along with its shuttles and heavy fighters.
Physiologically, neither Jaibok nor Jansa cope well with low berths and they are not routinely fitted to Korsumug vessels.
- Earlier variants of the class were fitted with low berths in order to transport prisoners, a feature that has been removed as internal space issues have become more pressing.
Class Naming Practice/s:
Vessels of the Korsumug Empire are given alphanumeric designations and callsigns by other interstellar states. KA refers to Korsumug Empire–Auxiliary (a designation applied to all Korsumug support units), 15 is a multiple of hundreds of tons of displacement and also indicates at a glance the number of weapons mounts, and 'c' refers to the version of the vessel, relating to its construction tech level and bracketing its maximum jump potential. 'Glutton' is an easy to remember name to help with rapid identification.
Individual vessels are generally named by their crews.
