Jaeger is a poor, non-agricultural and nonindustrial hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the WillWlmo Subsector of Theron Sector.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Jaeger is a binary star system.
- The primary is a red main sequence.
- The secondary is a tiny white dwarf stellar remnant.
Under Sitaraist belief, both are considered "bad stars".
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Jaeger is a Twilight Zone World.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Jaeger is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Jaeger has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
- Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
- Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
- The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
- The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Jaeger has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
- Much of the surface is an arid, hostile environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Jaeger is an quiet backwater with limited development. It has been settled for centuries.
The population are culturally Muirimi, with most of the inhabitants able to trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra. The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.
The world formed part of an ancient Muirimi state called the "Roshanee Kee Ekata", or the "Unity of Light", more commonly known as the Unity of Stars: the region was sometimes referred to as "Far Tibet". It was home to reclusive sects of monks dedicated to achieving personal enlightenment and unlocking inner powers. The Unity and its member worlds chose to join the Regency of Muirimi upon its formation.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Jaeger has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Jaeger has a population of 5 million.
Urbanization[edit]
A few large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Jaeger possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Jaeger has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 15,000 personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Jaeger has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 7 (few)
- Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: +2 (good)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: A (discordant)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
- Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
This world is part of the Muirimi culture.
- The inhabitants of this world can trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
- The religion of Sitaraism is followed.
