Irdashdis is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Sydymic Subsector of Ley Sector.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
Description / Astrography & Planetology[edit]
This system is part of the Sydymic Outworlds.
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x11 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Irdashdis orbits at the outer edge of the primary star's habitable zone.
- It receives low levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Irdashdis is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Irdashdis has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Irdashdis has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- The world's oceans are littered with icebergs and pack ice.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Irdashdis has a diverse and well-developed biosphere, which now includes creatures introduced from offworld. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native lifeforms are cryophilic - they thrive in low temperatures.
Most of these offworld species were introduced during the Rule of Man and are now well established in their ecological niches. The most significant is Talkan's Grazer, a normally docile grazing animal. Native predators include packs of Ziprips and lone Kainhos.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport[edit]
Irdashdis has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
The current Downport is built on the remains of a Sydite installation dating to the Sydymic Empire.
- Irdashdis has had no less than five new-built starports since the Rule of Man, as first one then another region rose to dominance, each time more powerful and supporting a greater population. Each time, a new starport was constructed to serve the increased need.
World Population (P)[edit]
Irdashdis has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
The capital is Amka City, site of Liberty Downport. The Startown is home to almost two million people.
Liberty Port isn't much of a manufacturing centre, and brings in a lot of goods by monorail or aboard barges up the Great Barsike Canal from the neighboring industrial city of Barsike. Most of the world's financial institutions are situated in Amka along with the main campus of the Planetary University of Irdashdis.
While many Startowns are subject to more relaxed laws than the rest of the planet, being interface zones between the planetary culture and offworlders, Liberty Port is quite the opposite. Law enforcement is strict and brisk.
World Technology Level[edit]
Irdashdis possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government[edit]
Irdashdis is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Military[edit]
The Irdashdis Republican Defense Force is mainly confined to the Irdashdis system (other than detachments shipped aboard armed merchant craft) but is quite a powerful force, relatively speaking.
World Law (L)[edit]
Irdashdis has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
