Doughaerr is a nonindustrial fluid world.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a member of the Jihad of Faarzgaen in the Vorvoun Subsector of Provence Sector in the Vargr Extents.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Doughaerr is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Doughaerr has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Doughaerr has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.

  • The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
  • Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This world lies within jump-1 of Arghavor, the further spinward of the two Llaegharrgh-Vorvoun Jump Bridges.

The jump bridges consist of two Rogue Worlds lying within empty interstellar hexes.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Doughaerr has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Doughaerr has a population of 300,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • The population entirely consists of Vargr.

Faith and Belief[edit]

The world has been forced to follow a radical form of the Faarzgaen religion. One of the core elements of the faith is that the god directly influences his followers actions. He implants feelings and thoughts into their bodies and minds, suggesting how and when they should eat, sleep, behave, and generally conduct themselves. If they are hungry, Faarzgaen wants them to eat, if they are tired, Faarzgaen wants them to rest. Those who commit immoral or criminal acts are seen as having chosen not to follow Faarzgaen's guidance.

The sect added something new: it was not wrong, they declared, to take what you need from heretics and unbelievers. If you want to seize their posssessions, it is Faarzgaen giving you that righteous passion; if you want to murder someone, it is because Faarzgaen wants that person to die.

While religious beliefs did influence thinking across many worlds where the Faarzgaen faith was followed, secular issues were generally conducted independent of any religious oversight. Though Faarzgaen was present within all aspects of life a clear distinction between church and state was maintained. The sect that has seized power has done away with this and inserted itself into every aspect of society and law: non-believers are considered heretics, their territories and possessions are to be seized, and the unbelievers themselves should either be forcibly converted to the faith or destroyed. It has gained billions of fanatical new followers from among the poor and disadvanted masses.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Doughaerr possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Doughaerr has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Doughaerr has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: B (abundant)
  • Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 7 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
