Llaegharrgh-Vorvoun Jump Bridges
The Llaegharrgh-Vorvoun Jump Bridges are two deep space refuelling facilities.
- They are located within Provence Sector, in the Vargr Extents.
- They are rogue worlds.
- They lie within within empty hex 1006 and empty hex 1107 of Vorvoun Subsector.
- They are controlled by the Empire of Varroerth, a major Vargr polity.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Bridge facilities are built around two rogue worlds that have been discovered within empty hexes: these worlds are named Arghavor and Uraku. Each Jump Bridge consists of a large heavily defended surface base and multiple orbital facilities, and is surrounded by extensive sensor networks.
The Bridge facilities enable deep space refuelling within empty hex 1006 and empty hex 1107 of Vorvoun Subsector. Hydrogen fuel is extracted from the surfaces of the worlds and provided – at premium rates – to vessels using the Bridge facilities.
This allows very low jump rated vessels to cross between the Llaegharrgh Chain and the Vorvoun Course, two important mains located within the coreward part of Provence Sector.
- Very low jump rated vessels generally carry enough fuel for a single jump.
- Such vessels can carry a very large amount of cargo relative to their size, making them extremely economical.
- While slow, they are relatively cheap to construct and are generally easy to maintain.
The danger posed by the turbulent political situation in the Jihad of Faarzgaen has effectively closed the spinward Arghavor jump bridge.
- Traffic through the Arghavor bridge facility has slowed to a trickle and many basic commodities are in short supply.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
- Worlds lying on the two Mains are highlighted in tan.
- The Arghavor jump bridge (to spinward) and the Uraku jump bridge (to trailing) are denoted as red targets.
- Llaegharrgh is marked in red and Vorvoun is marked in green.
Empty Hexes Vorv 1006 and Vorv 1107[edit]
A dark, frozen, starless rogue world has been found within each hex.
Vorvoun Subsector (Subsector B of Provence Sector): Name Function Hex UWP Remarks WBG Alg Star Notes --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arghavor Spinward Bridge 1006 B90435A-C K Ic Lo Va / Ht 100 NaVa -- Population 7000 Uraku Trailing Bridge 1107 B7A348B-C K Fl Lo / Ht Fr 100 NaVa -- Population 8000
Each Jump Bridge is centered on a single rogue world located within the designated empty hex. Navigation / emergency buoys have been emplaced around each rogue world, precisely locating it in relation to the buoy's position.
- The buoys form a huge sphere around each world, with some buoys lying as far as 10,000 AU / 8.25 light-weeks distant from the central world.
- The buoys provide emergency assistance to vessels that have emerged from jump, perhaps as a result of a navigation error, at a great distance from the Jump Bridge facilities: they contain supplies of oxygen, food, and water.
- Each buoy automatically transmits a signal to the central Bridge facilities if it is activated by communications or sensors, or is physically accessed.
- If necessary, patrol vessels, rescue craft, or repair teams can be dispatched from the central world.
Within Empty Hexes[edit]
Hexes are extremely large, in the region of 3.2 lightyears / 170 light weeks across.
- Without exact coordinates to jump to within each hex, any ship arriving randomly within either of them would likely to end up many tens of light-weeks (tens of thousands of AU) away from the Jump Bridge facilities. Such extreme distances may take months to cross at sublight speeds - few vessels have sufficient life support or supplies for such extended journeys.
- Exact coordinates, all required permits, and security codes need to be acquired before travel to the Bridge can be attempted.
- The Jump Bridge facilities have significant defensive capabilities and are guarded by powerful warships.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The funding and technology to maintain the facilities comes primarily from Vorvoun, Knak, and the worlds of the Vorvoun Course.
They were constructed in the early 900s and have been operational for almost two centuries.
The jump bridges have played a vital role in the economic development of the region. High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities use them to cross between the two mains.
The facilities are loyal to the Empire of Varroerth.
Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected these facilities and the wider region that they lie within:
- circa 26: the Empire of Varroerth is founded.
- early 900s: the Llaegharrgh-Vorvoun Jump Bridges are constructed.
- 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey charts the jump bridges.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the jump bridges becomes known, though not widely available.
- 1095: Faarzgaen extremists capture a number of worlds and secede from the Empire of Varroerth. They declare a Jihad against neighbouring worlds.
- 1096: the Province of Llaeghskath secedes from the Empire of Varroerth, becoming the Llaeghskath Interacterate.
- 1100: The political situation in the Jihad of Faarzgaen closes the spinward (Arghavor) jump bridge.

Comprehensive Second Survey UWP data for all worlds associated with these facilities is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
