System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

DeBeers is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

DeBeers has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

DeBeers has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

DeBeers is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.

Formerly a world associated with the League of Suns, DeBeers was taken by the Descarothe Hegemony circa 1100. It is the only system of the the Hegemony within Cabala Subsector.

Travel Advisory[edit]

The League of Suns have issued warnings to citizens of the League concerning travel to Hegemony worlds, due to the Hegemony's now-notorious distrust for outsiders, the hostile attitude expressed towards the League, and the strength and zeal of Hegemony military security forces.

  • The MeRaZhar, the State security forces, keep close watch on offworlders.

World Starport (St)[edit]

DeBeers has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

DeBeers has a population of 6,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
  • The population has Zhodani, Imperial, and Vlazhdumecta heritage.
  • Many families can trace their ancestry to pre-Long Night Vilani colonists.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

DeBeers possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)[edit]

DeBeers has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law (L)[edit]

DeBeers has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 5 (scarce)
  • Labor: 2 (hundreds)
  • Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
  • Efficiency: -2 (fair)

World Culture[edit]

The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.

  • Heterogenity: 4 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
  • Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
