Chabl is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Meichntid Ibl in the Lenchiajzhdiezh Subsector of Yiklerzdanzh Sector.
- It is a system with an incorrectly classified primary star.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- The world-system hosts a Meichntid Military Station, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
- It is a member of the Yiklerzdanzh Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Chabl is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a white dwarf stellar remnant.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been partially surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- An unknown number of secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Chabl is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Chabl has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Chabl has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Chabl retains three small vacuum moons.
- They orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Chabl lies on the Yiklerzdanzh Main, the major trade route within the sector.
- An eclectic mix of high cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along the Main, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between its member worlds.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
- Worlds on the Main are marked in green.
Misidentified Star[edit]
The primary star is listed on Imperial star charts as a white dwarf stellar remnant.
In actuality it is an orange main sequence.
A number of systems within the subsector have stars that have been given incorrect stellar designations on star charts, almost always being misreported as white dwarfs.
- This consistent error appears to date back to the time of the Imperial First Survey.
- Some authorities claim that it was a deliberate large scale effort to discourage interest in the region.
Ongoing study by the IISS has revealed the error, but this occurred after the publication of the Imperial Second Survey.
- Verified data confirming the exact nature of the star would command premium prices.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Chabl has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The federal government is responsible for the running of all starports in Meichntid Ibl. In practice, though, this means that the Federal Starports Authority sets up a list of rules and guide-lines by which all starports must be run, and then contracts the ports out to be run by various corporations.
- The world is host to a Meichntid Military Station, which functions both as a Naval Base and as an Exploration Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Chabl has a population of 500,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Demographics[edit]
The overwhelming majority of Meichntid Ibl citizens are biological Zhodani.
- Less than one percent of the Human gene pool is from Humans of other origins, primarily Vlazhdumecta.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most widely spoken language is Zdetl.
Urbanization[edit]
People visiting Meichntid Ibl settlements can be overwhelmed by the level of advertising. Advertisements of all types will be seen, as there are no restrictions -- with the exception that subliminal or mind-altering advertising is illegal as it conflicts with the Anidrep philosophy.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Chabl possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)[edit]
Chabl is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
- Politicians are elected to the world legislature, which is responsible for appointing a set number of representatives to the Meichntid Ibl Federal legislature. These federal representatives are responsible to the world legislature which appointed them.
World Military[edit]
- Individual worlds in Meichntid Ibl are not permitted to have independent military forces. However, police and law enforcement activities are not military and are therefore under world government control.
World Law (L)[edit]
Chabl has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
- As a member of the Meichntid Ibl, this world sees activity from the independent judiciary known as The Questioning Eye, the role of which is primarily to monitor government activities. The Questioning Eye has a wide range of powers in order to make sure that official affairs are conducted in an efficient and proper manner.
World Culture[edit]
This world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.
Unlike the Consulate, of which the Meichntid Ibl was once part, psionic ability is not associated with natural leadership.
The average Meichntid Ibl citizen is under enormous pressure to succeed. This lifelong pressure comes in many different forms, from media content to peer group pressure. The average successful citizen works for one of the many corporations which dominate the Meichntid Ibl economy. These corporations demand a great deal of loyalty from their employees, and those seen to be loyal and efficient can expect lucrative bonuses, fringe benefits, or other perks provided by the company.
