Argiluu is a water world with 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water, and an short-sleeve breathable atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. This world is a satellite of a gas giant or another planet in the system. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Ushra Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Argiluu, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and a baronet, and the fiefdom of a count. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. During the Long Night this world was named Argiluu.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
Argiluu is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Argiluu is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Argiluu has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Argiluu has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
The world of Argiluu is literally a "molten snowball": the crust, and much of the mantle, of this formerly icy outer gas giant satellite melted when its primary star evolved off the main sequence. Argiluu's world-ocean is at least 60 kilometres deep according to current estimates, its depths beyond the range of the most advanced densitometers. Terraforming has converted the original ammonia-water vapour atmosphere into a breathable nitrogen-oxygen mix.
The world has no land-masses as such -- major settlements are tunneled into huge naturally-occurring rafts of foamed carbonaceous material known as "tarballs". Valuable organic chemicals are extracted from the tar, and the seawater is also rich in dissolved minerals.
History and Background[edit]
Argiluu derives from the Old High Vilani for "no sound ocean"; the primitive sonar systems used in the earliest Vilani surveys produced no returns in many areas of the world-ocean.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Argiluu has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Imperial Naval Base, hosting elements of the 188th Fleet.
World Population (P)[edit]
Argiluu has a population of 1,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Argiluu possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Argiluu is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Law (L)[edit]
Argiluu has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
