Orret Subsector is Subsector K of Far Home Sector.
Description / Specifications
Orret Subsector lies within Far Home Sector and is named for the Orret system and its white bright giant star. The coreward and spinward regions of the subsector contain the Demon's Eye Rift, while its rimward regions are dominated by the Pador-Aredian Cluster and dotted with scattered systems. Two Star Lanes, the Void Edge and the Pador-Peset Spur, cross the Subsector and carry huge amounts of interstellar trade. Pador is an extremely important industrial and commercial hub.

Demographics
Population: 5.578 billion Sophonts.
- Humaniti (Human races)
- Solomani (Major Race): 4.791 billion (86.22% of the population), descended from human refugees fleeing the Destruction of Terra. They refer to themselves as Terrans.
- Other Non-Human Races
- Hoppers: approximately 381.57 million (6.84% of the population), largely concentrated within insular self-sufficient communities within established urban areas on human worlds. Most have never visited Fedan, their ancestral homeworld, and many have developed unique customs and habits.
- Sath: approximately 18 million.
- Diaspora Sath: approximately 3.5 million, widely dispersed within isolated communities.
- Sath Military Occupation Forces: in excess of 14.5 million, currently within the Hell Worlds region.
- Temelik: 387.01 million (6.94% of the population), largely concentrated on Iasanu. Individual Temelik can be found throughout human-dominated space.
Native Sophonts
- Temelik, native to Iasanu, within the Pador-Aredian Cluster.
Linguistic Topography
The following languages are the most commonly spoken within Orret Subsector:
- Anglish. The language of the Firstworlds. A direct descendant of Fleet Anglic, widely spoken throughout the Distant Fringe. Most people know a few words and phrases of Anglish.
- Meranto. The language of the Rimward Federation, closely related to Fleet Anglic. It is not widely spoken outside of the Pel Avena cluster – many native Meranto speakers can also speak Anglish.
- Padori. A direct descendant of Fleet Anglic, widely spoken within the Pador-Aredian cluster and common throughout the rimward half of Far Home Sector.
- Kha’thak. A Sath language, the primary language of the Ka’sa and Khas'ahi Factions of the Sath Alliance.
Polities
- The Hell Worlds, formerly neutral human-dominated systems occupied by the Ka’sa and Khas'ahi Factions of the Sath Alliance.
- The Rimward Federation has a single member system, a part of the Pel Avena Cluster, lying on the spinward edge of the Subsector. It claims dominion over a broad expanse of interstellar space, further extending its borders into the region.
Interstellar Relations
Pador is the industrial powerhouse of the Rim. It directly controls three other systems within the Pador-Aredian Cluster including Iasanu, the homeworld of the Temelik. The vessels of the Padoran Grand Fleet patrol the Pador-Aredian Cluster, the Void Edge Star Lane and the Pador-Peset Spur, keeping the Star Lanes open, flying the flag for Pador, and maintaining political stability. Pador could easily support a substantially larger navy and military but conservative political interests within its government prevent this.
- Pador is deeply concerned about the danger presented by the Sath on its rimward borders and is increasing its military presence among the systems in the area. Vessels of the Padoran Grand Fleet frequently come into contact with powerful Sath commerce raiders.
The Rimward Federation claims a single system, Peset, along with a surrounding buffer zone of interstellar space, in the spinward-rimward corner of the Subsector. It is the spinward terminus of the Pador-Peset Spur and has been declared a Free Port and Commercial Enterprise Zone. It is undergoing a period of intense development and expansion. The tiny but efficient Rimward Federation Navy primarily busies itself with customs enforcement and anti-smuggling operations. It cooperates closely with the Padoran Grand Fleet.
The Hell Worlds are formerly neutral human-dominated systems occupied by the violently anti-human Sath, specifically the Ka’sa and Khas'ahi Factions of the Sath Alliance. They have moved in millions of troops, tens of thousands of ships and vehicles and huge amounts of equipment, and appear to be transitioning from a military invasion to a full-scale colonisation effort. An organised and proactive human resistance exists, supported strategically by powerful offworld interests and physically by both mercenary and starmerc forces.
- Powerful Sath commerce raiders are active throughout the Subsector and present a considerable danger to interstellar trade and commerce.

History & Background
Orret Subsector saw some early activity by humans, particularly within the Pador-Aredian Cluster, where refugees from the repressive Second Confederation found shelter. Following the establishment of the Third Confederation successor states began to emerge but their development was ended by the onset of the Dark Age. Following the Renaissance period survivor worlds were recontacted, scavengers picked over the few remains that there were, and hardy pioneers looked to the empty systems and the opportunities they presented. Almost all expansion and growth within the region is relatively modern, beginning during the so-called Golden Age and continuing with the nebulous Development Organizations and the rise of polities.
- A strong social divide exists between wealthy and aristocratic Fives, descended from the original settlers and crew of the Last Armada, and Gens, individuals whose ancestors were grown in GenPods and raised by Hoppers.
Major Historical Events Timeline
