Description (Specifications)

The League’s 49 full members are self-governing worlds. These members send two representatives to the League Assembly, which convenes for a 90-day legislative session every standard year aboard the Capital Orbital habitat, a station in geosynchronous orbit above Corella. Prior to the repeal of the Federal Constitution in 742, the League’s members had met continuously in the Grand Assembly Hall, within the ornate Grand Centrum Station, a structure since deteriorated to become part museum and part second-rate highport in orbit around Centrum.

Demographics

  • Aniyun of Quatenon
  • Human
  • Kemlae of Kemlos (the largest non-Human demographic)
  • Small enclaves of Freni are established on some Corellan League worlds.

History & Background (Dossier)

In 935, Tirost withdrew from the League when its new leader, the Duality Prophet Zydar, protested the League's lack of involvement in ending his world's wars. Following the social reorganization of the Great Realignment, Zydar spread his rule from Tirost -- now renamed Zydar -- to neighbouring systems. The outpost of Oquir, renamed Zydoquir, was claimed by 936. Oquir had been under control of the former Tirostian nation of Kanbarre, and for the next few decades was Zydar's only claim to interstellar statehood. The establishment of the Star Legion of the Codominium in 962, however, was followed by its occupation and conversion of nearby Danaria (quickly renamed Zydanar) -- and Exanos (renamed Zydexnar). The Corellan League reacted poorly to these occupations, but war was averted after Zydar declared his expansion to be complete. In 964 he signed the Treaty of Nestor, guaranteeing the independence of that system, which remains the main trade conduit to the League.

Foreign Relations

While there is no enmity between the League and the Corellan-descended Hefrin Colony, there is also minimal trade. The League maintains a small consulate on the Hefrin breadbasket world Khiiszarbi, staffed almost entirely by locals.

Economics

A multi-system corporation within the League is registered as a Consortium. Collectively, they are known as the Consortia.

Military & Intelligence (Force Projection)

In theory, the Corellan League Star Fleet is a combined military force directly answerable to the League Assembly. In practice, the professional seven member Staff Directorate sets policy and issues orders, and equipment differs from place to place within the League.

Once they modernized, they tried to update their naval architecture with mixed results. The Corellan War Corvette is an example of their ship building. [1]
