    History & Background (Dossier)

A Sloop is a Royal Caledonian Navy term for a light escort vessel. They fill the same role as vessels referred to as "Escorts", "Patrol Frigate", "Escort Cruisers", "Destroyer Escorts" or "Corvettes" in other fleets.

Caledonian Sloops are generally between 800 and 1,300 tons, are generally built to TL-11 standards (as the buccaneers and Reavers that are their normal foes are generally built to even older standards) although generally armed to TL12 level, and are in particular designed for high on-station endurance, carrying enough supplies to remain on patrol for 6-8 weeks without resupply.
