Gemini, subsector O of the Solomani Rim Sector, is named for the bright stars Castor and Pollux. The subsector is split by the border between the Imperium and the Solomani Confederation. The Imperial portion is an appendage of the Sol Subsector; the Solomani portion (technically an political unit) is dominated by the Near Boötes Cluster.

Gemini, subsector O of Solomani Rim, contains 19 worlds with an estimated combined population of 17 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,095, and a total economy of BCr123,261. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr3,473 through 16 starports (8 Class A, 3 Class B, 4 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 502,160 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, three Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Gemini maintain five Naval bases and three Military bases. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 7 and 13). The highest technology level is 14 at Hamilcar (Solomani Rim 1738) and Aristotle (Solomani Rim 1740).

Gemini, subsector O of Solomani Rim, contains 29 stars and 209 identified planets; 14 monostellar systems, three binary systems, one trinary system, and one system with four or more stars. 15 of the 19 systems (78%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, two Poor (Po) worlds, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Gemini has an estimated population of 17 billion distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, four Moderate population (Ph) worlds, four Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, four Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population worlds are Hamilcar (Solomani Rim 1738), Castor (Solomani Rim 2339), Aristotle (Solomani Rim 1740), and Chernozem (Solomani Rim 1836). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

2 identified sophont populations in Gemini

Solomani Confederation

The Solomani Confederation (including the Boötean Federation) has jurisdiction over 12 worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 16 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,305, and a total economy of BCr116,902. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr3,284 through 9 starports (5 Class A, 3 Class B, 1 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 465,555 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in the Solomani Confederation maintain three Naval bases and three Military bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 6 and 14). The highest technology level is 14 at Hamilcar (Solomani Rim 1738) and Aristotle (Solomani Rim 1740).

The Solomani Confederation has an estimated population of 16 billion within the subsector, distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, three Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population worlds are Hamilcar (Solomani Rim 1738), Castor (Solomani Rim 2339), Aristotle (Solomani Rim 1740), and Chernozem (Solomani Rim 1836). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Third Imperium

The Third Imperium has jurisdiction over six worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 1 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,641, and a total economy of BCr6,359. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr189 through 6 starports (3 Class A, 0 Class B, 3 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 36,605 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, three Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Third Imperium maintain two Naval bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 11 (with most between 9 and 12). The highest technology level is 13 at Hephaistos (Solomani Rim 1931).

The Third Imperium has an estimated population of 1 billion within the subsector, distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, one Non-industrial (Ni) world, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Inferno (Solomani Rim 2131) and Ys (Solomani Rim 1732). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated

There is one Non-Aligned Human-dominated world in Gemini with an estimated population of less than 1 million.

Although Castor and Pollux are very similar stars, their asteroid belts are quite dissimilar. The Pollux Belt is little more than gravel, and commercial exploitation would be unprofitable. The Castor Belt is, on the other hand, rich in metals, ices, and simple organics, and has many large planetoids suitable for habitat construction. Consequently, Pollux is uninhabited and unvisited; Castor supports a population of five billion.

Hephaistos is one of the few terraforming projects completed by the Imperium. Begun during the Interstellar Wars, the project was alternately abandoned and resumed several times. The project was finally completed by the Hephaistos Company, chartered by the Imperium in 632, and the planet was opened in 835 and sections were sold off to several colonial groups. Although the project is officially complete, work still proceeds to reduce and fine-tune the ocean and atmosphere.

Smade's Planet was settled by a single family a century ago, taking advantage of a dormant Imperial claim to the world; to date, the Solomani have not contested their presence. The Smade family, eager for news and offworld goods, welcomes visitors and traders (although local prices are extremely high).
