System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

Mainworld Size (S)

Bytar is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Bytar has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Bytar has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)

Bytar is a information center and data storage facility. It cultivates this image, publicizing the sheer scale and outstanding security of its vast underground computer banks, which are used for long term data storage by neighboring systems.

During the early 700s Bytar, like many other worlds within the subsector, became increasingly fearful of annexation into the Zhodani Consulate. The leaders of planets across the region came together in a council, which convened on Acropolis, and after deliberation that lasted months ratified the declaration of the Salinaikin Concordance. It guaranteed mutual assistance and support in the event of outside aggression and served to halt the slow expansion of the Consulate.

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

By the mid 700s the state was extant and expanding. Worlds continued to join, and by the early 1000s it had reached its present size.

  • The Concordance was named for Kalel Escott Salinaikin, its chief architect.

World Starport (St)

Bytar has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

Bytar has population of 600 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.

World Technology Level (T)

Bytar possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)

Bytar is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Law (L)

Bytar has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data

  • Importance: 1 (ordinary)

World Economy

  • Resources: 5 (scarce)
  • Labor: 1 (tens)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -3 (poor)

World Culture

The world is a member of the Zhodani Consulate and maintains the traditions and values of that state. The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.

  • Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
