Hesha is a poor, low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Ozhev Subsector of Fulani Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Hesha is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
- They are close companions.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data
Hesha is a Twilight Zone World.
- One side of the world permanently faces towards the star and one side permanently faces away.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)
Hesha is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
- The world is seismically and geologically active.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Hesha has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Hesha has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)
Hesha is a commercial outpost with ongoing development. The population of the world are in the early stages of constructing facilities and upgrading the infrastructure with the intention of beginning commercial mining operations.
- The resources of the system are still being explored.
A few private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is relatively infrequent: ships only occasionally visit.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- A few commercial navigation beacons may be active.
- One or two vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)
Hesha has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Demographics (P)
Hesha has a population of 20.
Urbanization
A single central facility with a few outlying structures and compounds.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)
Hesha possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)
Hesha is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Military
Privately retained security personnel.
World Law (L)
Hesha has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
World Economy
- Resources: E (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 0 (none)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: +4 (advanced)
Trade Data
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Culture
- Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: 5 (concrete)
World Timeline
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
