Three systems within Sarudis Subsector remain officially unexplored as of 5600AD. Each lies three parsecs or more from the Distant Fringe proper, within the Great Void, placing them beyond the range of conventional vessels. It is likely that governments and organisations know significantly more about them than is made available to the general public. The Sath Alliance has publicly claimed province over the Thi'aa system (2339 Far Home).

Sarudis Subsector is Subsector O of Far Home Sector.

Description / Specifications[edit]

Sarudis Subsector lies within Far Home Sector and is named for the Sarudis system and its red bright giant star. The trailing half of the Subsector is dominated by the Sha'a Cluster, part of the Sath Alliance, and the Hell Worlds, human-dominated systems occupied by the Sath. Its spinward and rimward regions are considered to lie within the Great Void and have been only partially explored, almost exclusively by the Sath. The Descent, a war-ravaged Star Lane, crosses the coreward edge of the Subsector carrying supplies and reinforcements to the Hell Worlds and evacuating casualties.

Subsector Summary[edit]

Sarudis, subsector O of Far Home has 14 worlds, of which 11 have native gas giants. The estimated population for the subsector is 8 billion sophonts (not necessarily humans). There is one High population (Hi) world, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, four Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, four Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. There are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds versus no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, and one Non-Agricultural (Na) world. There are two Rich (Ri) worlds versus no Industrial (In) worlds. There is one Asteroid (As) belt, no Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, five Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds. There are no Naval bases in the subsector, no Scout bases, and no Way stations. The highest population world is Kaashik (Far Home 2433). The highest tech level is B at Sii'kha (Far Home 2136) and Ik'sath (Far Home 2333). The average technology level is 6 (with most between 2 and 9).

Polity Listing[edit]

The Sath Alliance in Sarudis has jurisdiction over seven worlds with a population of 8 billion. The highest population world is Kaashik (Far Home 2433). The highest tech level is B at Sii'kha (Far Home 2136) and Ik'sath (Far Home 2333). The average technology level is 8 (with most between 5 and 10).

There are three unclaimed or unexplored systems in Sarudis.

The Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Sarudis encompasses three worlds with a population of 30 million. The highest population world is Morrow (Far Home 2031). The highest tech level is 9 at Sarudis (Far Home 1932).

The Hell Worlds in Sarudis has jurisdiction over one world with a population of 8 million. The highest population world is Jacent (Far Home 2331). The highest tech level is A at Jacent (Far Home 2331).

History & Background[edit]

Sarudis Subsector saw some early activity by humans, particularly within the Sha'a Cluster, but exploration was stifled by the policies of the Second Confederation. The Sath expanded into the region but suffered early setbacks. Their ongoing development was ended by the onset of the Dark Age.
