New Frontiers was a Development Organization focused on the trailing half of Far Home Sector.

Description / Specifications[edit]

New Frontiers was a large but nebulous organisation that sought to develop the worlds and systems under its jurisdiction. It claimed altruistic intentions – the dissipation of humanity over a broad area to lessen the danger of disaster – but its bottom line was always commerce and profit. It was divided into large regions, headed by administrators, that were effectively self-governing fiefdoms. As local economies and independent corporations grew and flourished New Frontiers became increasingly irrelevant. Individual regions continued to operate but by the beginning of the 54th century it had effectively ceased to exist as an entity.

History & Background[edit]

During its early years, as it expanded its area of operations, it frequently came into conflict with Scavenger groups picking over the remnants of the Founding Era and the Dark Age.

New Frontiers clashed with Tal Varisan Development in Arodir Subsector, particularly over territorial rights among the worlds of the Krayal Trace. Later, it also came into conflict with the newly founded Empire in the same region. It maintained a tense stand-off with Rimward Opportunities Development Organization in Orret Subsector and later began active trade with the breakaway Pel Avena Cluster, which further soured relations.

Throughout its existence New Frontiers faced ongoing conflict with the Sath. It maintained a strong security presence on its rimward borders in order to check Sath expansion, and on a number of occasions fought pitched battles with Sath raiders. New Frontiers maintained a standing military force, The Guard, within the coreward edge of Sarudis Subsector. New Frontiers always enjoyed a technological advantage over the Sath, and though it was vastly outnumbered, the Sath were fractious and divided and never able to bring significant numbers to bear against their human foes.

New Frontiers was always a ramshackle organisation, plagued by mismanagement and suffering badly at the hands of pirates. It is perhaps best remembered for the Rape of Erena and the Cephet Massacre in the early 51st century.
