Xava is a preindustrial world.

  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This world hopes to one day be one of the subsector's industrial powerhouses, but hasn't yet realized that dream. The leaders of this world are regularly embarking on trade missions to attract more investment capital, worker-immigrants, and other necessary stepping stones to achieve this goal.
  • This world is a member of the Trelyn Domain (the Duchy of Trelyn) located in the Mnemosyne Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

  • It is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Xava is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Xava has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Xava has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

To comply with the terms of its Imperial charter, the Allarton Corporation, the Imperial corporation underpinning the Trelyn Domain, is limited to operations exclusively within the Trelyn Subsector of Vanguard Reaches Sector. Allarton officials and representatives may occasionally conduct business on other worlds of the Domain.

Both subsidiary companies may be active on worlds far beyond their official operating areas.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Xava has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Xava has a population of 20,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Linguistic Topography[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Xava possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Xava is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

World Law (L)[edit]

Xava has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -1 (unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: E (extremely abundant)
  • Labor: 6 (millions)
  • Infrastructure: 7 (generally available)
  • Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 2 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
  • Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
  • Symbols: 3 (very concrete)
