Spume is a desert world with a thin tainted atmosphere. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a member of Darrian Confederation in the Darrian Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector. This world hosts a Military Base for support of military ground forces. 100% of the world's population is the Minor Human Race Daryen.
- Spume is a member of the Spinward Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Spume has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belts.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The world's atmosphere is polluted with radioactive gases from its few volcanoes.
It orbits within its star's habitable zone.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Spume is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Spume has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Spume has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Te-Zlodh name for this world is Zbume, which means "golden," the color of the world's tainted atmosphere.
Spume, like Anselhome (Spinward Marches 0820), was colonized for resources rather than comfort. All inhabitants live in Dryavis, a domed village from which mining machines are directed by remote systems. These machines sometimes refuel at a lake near the village.
The Spume system contains a Darrian Confederation military base. The Confederation monitors all traffic through Spume and discourages the use of gas giant refuelling by maintaining patrols at all four of the system's giants. The Sword Worlds Confederation accepts this situation and encourages its captains to use the port openly in an effort to reduce tensions. Sometimes a Sword Worlds warship enters the system on a 'goodwill' visit, the real purpose of which is to ensure that Sword Worlds captains follow local procedure.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Spume has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Around 400 people at any one time, around 100 of them considered permanent residents.
World Demographics[edit]
- Darrian, 100%
World Languages[edit]
- Te-Zlodh
- Written te-zlodh uses a syllabary of flowing symbols, known as yaser te-yulep (the old script). When the Solomani arrived at Darrian, a new Latin-based alphabet, rome te-yulep ('the Roman script'), was introduced. Currently, yaser te-yulep remains in use for legal documentation, classic literature, poetry and news bulletins, where the speed and efficiency of the syllabary allows for rapid reading. Scientific and educational documentation are written in rome te-yulep.
World Government (G)[edit]
Spume has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
World Law (L)[edit]
Spume has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Economic[edit]
Corporations[edit]
The following major businesses operate within this region:
- Pihrund:
- Tharnitia Denus: a transport and logistics corporation that operates postal services and maintains terminals on all worlds within the Darrian Confederation.
The name literally translates as "Transport Company". - Zloril: a manufacturing corporation specializing in electronic equipment such as computers, sensor systems, and entertainment devices.
