History & Background / Dossier[edit]
During the early Long Night, refugees from the collapsing Rule of Man created a nation-state based on Shanape, which they named Matarishan. The Matarishan Federation, founded in -1770, endured to around -1550, when no functional starships remained. Without contact between its members, the Federation effectively dissolved, though a feeling of affinity between the member populations survived throughout the entire Long Night. As such, when dissident members of the changing Sylean Federation arrived in the region, allowing these worlds to regain Jump capability, the Matarishan Federation was recreated in –27.
The restored Federation was caught between other multi-world powers -- most notably the Luriani and the Sydymic Empire. Worlds changed hands between these three nations for centuries, until Imperial annexation of the region imposed an external settlement. Formal annexation of the Highlord Subsector in 648 put an end to friction between the Matarishan Federation and its neighbours, though resentment and dissident movements opposing Imperial annexation remained.
Imperial High / Landed Nobility[edit]
Shanape, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.
World Starport[edit]
Shanape has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

The justifications for the original change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.
