Shadmara is a low population, fluidic hellworld of less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
  • This world is a member of the Trelyn Domain (the Duchy of Trelyn) located in the Mnemosyne Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Shadmara is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Shadmara has an Insidious Atmosphere which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit, but extreme conditions cause the corrosive effects to defeat any personal protective measures in a few hours. TL–10 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Shadmara has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.

  • The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
  • Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.

To comply with the terms of its Imperial charter, the Allarton Corporation, the Imperial corporation underpinning the Trelyn Domain, is limited to operations exclusively within the Trelyn Subsector of Vanguard Reaches Sector. Allarton officials and representatives may occasionally conduct business on other worlds of the Domain.

Both subsidiary companies may be active on worlds far beyond their official operating areas.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Shadmara has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Shadmara has population of 500 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
  • The population has Zhodani, Imperial, and Vlazhdumecta heritage.
  • Many families can trace their ancestry to pre-Long Night Vilani colonists.

World Government (G)[edit]

Shadmara has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law (L)[edit]

Shadmara has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
