Description (Specifications)[edit]
The hull is streamlined and fitted with fuel scoops. The needle/wedge lifting airfoil is capable of dual environmental combat in the atmospheres of planets. The engines generate 5 G acceleration and the design is very agile and elusive. The TL–8 hulls are fitted with a bridge and a Model/2 computer.
The weapon is a single pulse laser battery. There is an up-gunned variant with two pulse lasers, a gunner is required and the agility drops from 5 to 2 and costs an additional 0.5 MCr. for the B variant.
The bridge has two acceleration couches for the single crew member and has enough room for a passenger/observer. There is a small craft stateroom so that these fighters can engage in long range system patrols, facilitated by this extended life support capability. The cargo bay can be fitted with additional life support and provisions and mission specific equipment.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Designed and built for the Sath Alliance Military Forces. These ships operate within the Far Home Sector. Built on Sii'kh Shi (world) and used by the Occupation Forces stationed there, several ships in the fleet deploy squadrons of these 30 dton fighters. The pulse laser is selected to simplify logistical requirements. The up-gunned B variants are rare outside of training squadrons. Fleet squadrons are almost exclusively the A variant. Observers are usually not carried except on longer duration reconnaissance missions.
Distant Fringe Vessels[edit]
The Distant Fringe is said to be a far spinward-rimward area inhabited by colonists and refugees originating on Terra. The region is extremely isolated, separated from the rest of Charted Space by vast, almost uncrossable rifts that were once broached by a system of calibration Points and the use of tankers. Those few academics within Charted Space who have found references to the Distant Fringe regard it as little more than a tall tale. Likewise, many of the inhabitants of the Distant Fringe believe the existence of Charted Space to be mythical.[3]
Vessels originating within the Distant Fringe are very rarely encountered outside of the region. However, misjumps do occur and anomalies with bizarre spacetime and Jumpspace effects exist: as such, craft of this type are not entirely unknown within Charted Space.[4]
Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]
Individual vessels are generally named by their crews.
- Individual vessels within the class are issued specific serial numbers and transponder codes.
- Naming a ship is considered a serious affair and is generally accompanied by a traditional ceremony, usually pouring a local beverage over the bows of the craft. Spacefarers tend to be superstitious folk and a ship with a frivolous name is considered "unlucky".
