Rann (Di 0206) is a high-population, industrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water and a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
- This is a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Narquel Subsector of Diaspora Sector in the Domain of Sol.
- It is the homeworld of the Eershe'yaat, a sophont species and minor race.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Scuttlebutt amongst Free Traders in the area indicates that recent events on Rann have generated enormous interest from the IISS. It is rumored that the Eershe'yaat are taking their first steps into space. It is also rumored that the Daibei Sector Sector Scout Leader recently relocated to the adjacent mainworld of Justi where the monitoring and interdiction program is based. It is known that additional IISS resources are being routed to bolster the monitoring and interdiction program.
- The world is part of the Justi Connector.
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Rann is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Rann has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Rann has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
No information yet available.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Native Sophont (NIL): Eershe'yaat[edit]
An aquatic race of industrial non-Humans, resembling flippered centipedes or eels.
History & Background[edit]
Although not comfortable on land, Rann's native Eershe'yaat frequent the surface of its mineral-rich seas, where they conduct those industrial activities which are facilitated by open air (including metallurgy and dry processing of organic materials).
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Despite being a world under Imperial control, this world-system's Red Zone rating has kept any Imperial Nobility from being appointed to it.
World Starport[edit]
Rann does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.
World Population (P)[edit]
Rann has a population of 3,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
World Demographics[edit]
The world is notable as the homeworld of the Eershe'yaat, a Minor Race. They make up the entire population.
- The system has been interdicted and issued a Red Zone travel advisory, to protect the species from exploitation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Rann possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Rann is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
World Military[edit]
No information yet available.
World Law (L)[edit]
Rann has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.
