Pedasus is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Star Bridge Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Pedasus is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the primary star.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds. Three orbit the primary star, four orbit the secondary star.
- x2 planetoid belts. One orbits the primary star, one orbits the secondary star.
- x3 gas giants. All orbit the primary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Pedasus orbits within the prime region of the primary star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Pedasus is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Pedasus has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
- The atmosphere is tainted with ozone at high enough levels to cause breathing difficulties: a filter mask should be worn at all times.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Pedasus has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few small continents, and a number of islands and archipelagos. Dry land is limited. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
A few subcontinental landmasses dot the world-ocean, along with scatterings of archipelagoes and islands.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- The world has both native and introduced species.
History & Background / Dossier[edit]

World Starport[edit]
Pedasus has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
Pedasus Highport is a required initial stop for all in-bound system traffic.
World Technology Level[edit]
Pedasus possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government[edit]
Pedasus is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Law Level[edit]
Pedasus has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
World Military[edit]
No information yet available.
World Economy[edit]
Aquaculture and maritime seacollecting.
Trade Data[edit]
Some exports of foodstuffs.
World Demographics[edit]
Humaniti 80%
Dolphin 20%
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogeneity: Monolithic
- Acceptance: Aloof
- Strangeness: Somewhat typical
- Symbols: Somewhat concrete
Observation: The average person here could care less...about anything, it seems. They are rather boring to my eye. The only cultural displays were some older videos (adapted from VR) from Home or Simonides, a fairly well attended sea-surfing competition, and a fishing competition. The bars here all serve the same drinks, various flavors of vodka with sweeteners.
Urbanization[edit]
The largest contiguous island is Port Pedasus, and it hosts the planetary downport. The planetary capitol begins just outside the outer ring of the downport, and fills the rest of the island with a Tech-A skyscraper city.
