Onortas is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.
- This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Biika Subsector of Verge Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures. [2]
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Onortas is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Onortas is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Onortas has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Onortas has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
A chilly world dominated by high salinity oceans separating three lonely continents and a wide scattering of islands large and small. Onortas is controlled by the Imperial Navy, but retains a capable, if small, civilian port as well. The highly rated civilian port is almost an accidental side effect of the Navy yards here, as the supply chains that feed the Navy also serve the civilian sector. As one of only two shipyards in the subsector, Onortas Yards has a reputation for small water-optimized starships, and produces several types of Imperial Navy aquatic landing craft as well as a thriving business in aquatic compatible traders and yachts. Supporting businesses here also produce some of the finest ice harvesting refueling systems in the Domain.
The Navy uses the world mostly as a fuel supply, and a heavy gravity training ground for both its own damage control and salvage specialists and a steady stream of Imperial and regional Marine and Army trainees. The Startown here is dominated by military friendly businesses, and patrolled by Military Police. The Navy also builds ships here, in mostly separate operations from the civilian yards. Because of the long supply chains, the Navy yard here is largely engaged in building escorts of various types instead of capital hulls.
There is a "native" populace of roughly 400 individuals living on the western continent in the area surrounding the port and Startown. The Navy considers them a nuisance, but their continued presence is supported by local and subsector nobility, and they have proven to be canny survivors on this chilly world. How they acquired their claims to legitimacy and the tacit protection of the nobility is not widely known or shared, but it is known that the current Knight Resident is one of their number, and that this has been the case more often than not for centuries.
There are two worlds named Onortas in Verge Sector, the other being located in Mimiuudlika Subsector (C). As is sometimes the case the two worlds do enunciate their name a bit differently. Onortas in Biika Subsector tends to be spoken with emphasis on the first "O", while the residents of the other Onortas have developed an accent that softens "r" sounds, making their homeworld sound more like Onoahtas.[3]
Onortas was never incorporated into the Ziru Sirka. Its status under the Rule of Man remains unclear.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Onortas has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to an Imperial Naval Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Onortas has population of 400 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Onortas possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)[edit]
Onortas has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Onortas has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Onortas, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 1 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 5 (scarce)
- Labor: 1 (tens)
- Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 3 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: C (very abstract)
