Nist is a rich, agricultural world with improving living conditions due to a bustling agro-economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world is rich with high-grade living conditions, a good climate, and a non-harmful environment. Immigration registration for this world is always in high demand.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Tsorva Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
- This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- The Nist system is a part of the Nist Cluster.

System Data[edit]
Ely-Nist System[edit]
The primary is Ely, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.778 Sols, a mass of 0.96 Sols, and a diameter of 1.299 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a rocky vacuum world and (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (III) Nist orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a small gas giant forms the starward part of the outer system. Orbital positions (V) through (IX) are unavailable due to the presence of the companion star. (X) a large gas giant and (XI) a thin atmosphere bigworld form the spaceward part of the outer system. Many of the worlds in the system retain satellites.
Hereward Subsystem[edit]
The companion is Hereward, an ordinary red main sequence star that orbits Ely at 9.8 AU (orbital position (VIII), 1.466 billion km). It has a luminosity of 0.0268 Sols, a mass of 0.4258 Sols, and a diameter of 658,000 km. (I) a marginally hospitable world orbits in the habitable zone. (II) a vacuum iceworld and (III) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. None of the worlds retain satellites.
- Ely and Hereward orbit their barycenter at a mean separation of 9.8 AU (1.466 billion km). They have an orbital period around one another of 26 years 42 days.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(III) Nist[edit]
(III) Nist is designated the mainworld. It orbits Ely at a mean distance of 0.71 AU (106.2 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 223 days 0 hours and a rotation period of 27.5 hours. The axial tilt is 33 degrees. Nist has a diameter of 7,872 km, a density of 5.67 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.63 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 1.15 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen, 22% oxygen, and 1% argon, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. Approximately 36% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: 19°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems, driven by the star and the seas, sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
This world is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
This world has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
This world has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites:[edit]
Nist retains two natural satellites, a small vacuum moon named Polysander and a marginally habitable world named Fawn:
- (IIIa) Polysander (UWP G200000-0, orbiting at 20 Diameters/157,000 km).
- (IIIb) Fawn (UWP F332437-A, orbiting at 55 Diameters/433,000 km).
Mainworld geography and topography[edit]
Total surface area: 195 million km², Land surface area: 125 million km², Water surface area: 70 million km².
Native lifeforms[edit]
Extensive and abundant native life that fills every available ecological niche.

World starport[edit]
Nist has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- Peace footing (government modifier x1.15). Port Capacity: 69,000 dTons
Facilities[edit]
Port facilities within the system include:
World technology level[edit]
Nist possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World government[edit]
Nist is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
