Heaven's Scent is a nonindustrial fluid world.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a client state of the Talpaku Communality in the Talpaku Subsector of Yiklerzdanzh Sector.
- This is a hot world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Heaven's Scent is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent orange subgiant.
- The secondary is a white dwarf stellar remnant named Stinker.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been partially surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- An unknown number of secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Heaven's Scent is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Heaven's Scent has a pressure of 2.5 or greater atmospheres. A Dense & High Pressure Atmosphere typically requires no survival gear under many conditions. Pressure at or below sea level is too great to support life but the atmosphere may be breathable at higher altitudes. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- Talpaku have small lungs, adapted to the high oxygen taint and dense atmosphere of their homeworld. Heaven's Scent is easily habitable for the species.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Heaven's Scent has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
- Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.
Satellites[edit]
Heaven's Scent retains two small vacuum moons.
- They orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Exotic native life occupying a wide range of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions help drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native lifeforms are thermophilic - they thrive in high temperatures.
- They will rapidly die in environmental conditions suitable for humans.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The system's two stars cause interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
The Night Mist Line interface line, a partnership based at Talpakuhome, operates 1000-ton jump-2 ships from Talpakuhome to Carillon. The partnership finds trade along this set route (visiting Bayou, Heaven's Scent, and Forday's Fortune along the way) to be sufficiently profitable that it rarely strays from this path.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Heaven's Scent has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Heaven's Scent has a population of 3,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Talpaku.
- A few humans and other sophonts may be encountered.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
Talpaku, a language comprised of whistles and clicks, is commonly used on the world.
- Talpaku cannot vocalize human sound, and even the most skilled humans can only poorly imitate spoken Talpaku.
- Language Translators are widely used for inter-species communication.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Heaven's Scent possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Heaven's Scent is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
- The world's government is controlled by military officers.
World Law (L)[edit]
Heaven's Scent has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. On worlds with this degree of law, it is difficult to distinguish the police from the military. On others, there is no difference.
World Economy[edit]
Each world in the Talpaku Communality has its own currency, the values of which fluctuate against each other according to economic circumstances.
There is a "reference" unit of currency called the kuyo, which is used by the Communality government, by multistellar companies, and for transactions between individuals and companies on different worlds.
World Culture[edit]
The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.
