Chowwara is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Rosorky Subsector of Fulani Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- It is the homeworld of the Chowwar.
- The world has a small population of Droyne.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Chowwara has a solitary primary star named Krell.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's colder outer H- region.
- It receives lower levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Chowwara is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Chowwara has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Chowwara has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- Much of the surface is covered in glaciers, ice, frost, and snow.
- To humans and Droyne, the surface is a frigid, hostile environment.
- To the Chowwar, the climate is pleasant and the land is rich and productive.
Satellites[edit]
Chowwara retains two small vacuum moons.
- They orbit once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Extensive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native life thrives in low temperatures.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Chowwara is a quiet backwater with a stable economy and comfortable standards of living.
- The resources of the mainworld are being exploited.
It is the homeworld of the Chowwar.
- They are heavily built, technologically primitive, aggressive, generally humanoid carnivores with a pragmatic nature and a preference for cold conditions.
- First contact occurred millennia ago.
There is limited activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is very infrequent: ships rarely visit.
- Commo usually only picks up natural background noise and static.
- One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
- Vessels are unlikely be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
At around the same point in history (circa -250,000), five separate species -- the Chowwar, Enchai, Huuran, Muu, and Nagad -- all evolved intelligence.
- The Chowwar and all four other species share dormant, nearly identical markers within their genetic makeup.
- The homeworlds of all five species lie within the same general region.
- Other than the timing of their emergent sapience, they have few other biological or chemical similarities.
- At almost exactly the same time, Droyne were transplanted onto Naylyoeatru.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Chowwara has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The starport is maintained and operated by Droyne.
World Population (P)[edit]
Chowwara has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
- The population almost entirely consists of Chowwar.
- There are around 5000 Droyne present on the world, principally located around the starport facilities.
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
A large percentage of the population are nomadic, following prey herds through forests and across the endless tundra.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Chowwara possesses a Technology Level of TL–1.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay and long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Muscle power and water wheels.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding animals, rickshaws, carts or other creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Rowed galleys and early sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
World Government (G)[edit]
Chowwara has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
- The world is divided into territories controlled by tribal confederations.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 15 million tribal warriors, loyal to various leaders and alliances.
World Law (L)[edit]
Chowwara has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 6 (few)
- Labor: 6 (millions)
- Infrastructure: A (extensive)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
World Culture[edit]

- Acceptance: 6 (somewhat aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 2 (very concrete)
