The Nagad of Nagad are a Minor Non-Human Race native to Fulani Sector.
- Their homeworld is located within Pieshivl Subsector.
- Their technological competency is rated as sophisticated.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Nagad are large flying serpentine scavengers with two pairs of wings, a strict caste-based society, and an obsessive need to organize despite differences on exactly how to do so.
Physiology[edit]
Bilateral HBS-T-AW-WN-T cartilaginous interior, scum internal fluids, scale-covered exterior.
A blunt wedge-shaped head, a long sinuous body, a pair of narrow arms ending in clawed manipulators, two pairs of wings, and a long narrow tail.
They typically weigh around 50 kgs and measure close to 3 meters in length.
They are naturally adapted to climatic conditions similar to those preferred by humans.
Nagad are egg-laying.
Psychology[edit]
The Nagad exhibit recognized characteristics of intelligence:
- Conceptual thought, including abstract language.
- Social structure, including social organization.
- Tool use, allowing environmental manipulation.
Nagad psychology is driven by factors common to many sophonts:
- Acquisition (stemming from the need to gather adequate nutrition),
- Preservation (derived from the need to continue their personal existence), and
- Perpetuation (the urge to continue the species).
Nagad base their beliefs on organization - everything can be bracketed, labelled, or isolated.
Demographics[edit]
The total known population equals 10 million individuals.
Native Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 8 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
- Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
It is not uncommon to find huge political gulfs between Nagad, almost always originating over systems of cataloging or processes of organization.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Chowwar, Enchai, Huuran, Muu, and Nagad all appear to have evolved intelligence at the same time.
All five species retain almost identical dormant markers within their genetic makeup.
- Other than the timing of their emergent sapience, they have few other biological or chemical similarities.
Timeline[edit]
- ca -250,000: the Nagad emerged as an intelligent species.
- At almost exactly the same time four other species on nearby worlds evolved intelligence, and Droyne were transplanted onto Naylyoeatru.
- The Nagad and all four other species share dormant, nearly identical genetic markers.
Red is Naylyoeatru.
Yellow is other sophont homeworlds.
Astrography[edit]
This race is primarily located in the following areas:
Charted Space:
Homeworld[edit]
The homeworld of this race is:
- Nagad, a poor tidally locked world with a thin, tainted atmosphere and little surface water.
Local Technology[edit]
Nagad possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
Local Government[edit]
Nagad is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 100,000 elite Guardians, trained from hatching.
Local Law[edit]
Nagad has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
World Listing: 1105[edit]
Significant communities of this race are known to dwell within the following systems and worlds:
