Bruhkarr is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
- This world is also the overall capital of an interstellar government with the massive extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- It is a member of the Principality of Bruhkarr in the Liberty Hall Subsector of Beyond Sector.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Bruhkarr is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Bruhkarr has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Bruhkarr has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Bruhkarr has two natural moons. The inner is a dwarf planet-sized sphere, the outer an irregular captured asteroid. In addition, there are more than 50 artificial moons, some tens of kilometres across. These house manufacturing factories and shipyards exporting goods across the sector and into Foreven and the Vanguard Reaches.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Bruhkarr was settled by, and named for, House Bruhkarr, which lost a power struggle on Albe and migrated spinward.
The Zhodani Consulate has helped the Principality of Bruhkarr establish a Psionic Institute on Bruhkarr.
World Starport[edit]
Bruhkarr has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Naval Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Bruhkarr has a population of 5,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Bruhkarr possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Bruhkarr is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Bruhkarr has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
The regulatory and legal systems within the Principality of Bruhkarr are generally considered fair and uncorrupted, though big business has a lot of influence not enjoyed by the average citizen.
World Economy[edit]
The welfare of the average citizen is considered to a certain degree, but the 'Big Thirty' conglomerates are considered 'too big to fail' and are protected from poor economic decisions to the detriment of challengers.
World Culture[edit]
Psionic practices are part of standard therapies for the mentally ill and criminals but, unlike in the Zhodani Consulate, there is no official Thought Police, and the average citizen can purchase and use a psionic shield.
Timeline[edit]
- -123: Countess Fatima, the head of House Bruhkarr, a faction that lost a power struggle on Albe, settles Bruhkarr.

- 34: Alia's son, Malik I, unsatisfied with the title of count, proclaims himself Prince of Bruhkarr.
- For the next two centuries the Principality concentrates on developing its economy rather than expanding.
- 615: Succession Crisis. Having been ruled for six centuries by Bruhkarr, Katanga and other worlds secede during the following civil war.
- 633: Rashid I secures the throne. At this point the Principality is reduced to just Bruhkarr and outposts on Khimi and Koewing.
- 701: Malik III restores Bruhkarr to its present size after conquering Yaple.
- 894: Rashid II is placed in suspended animation at the edge of death.
