Sizes of Military Unit[edit]
The Imperial Army Ground Force Command regularly deploy the following standard sizes of military unit: -
- Battalion: Commanded by a Lieutenant Colonel
- Regiment: Commanded by a Colonel. This is the smallest unit typically independently deployed on a single world.
- Brigade: Commanded by a Colonel or Brigadier General
- Division: Commanded by a Major General
- Corps: Commanded by a Lieutenant General
- Army: Commanded by a General
- Army Group: Commanded by a Field Marshal. This is the largest unit typically deployed on a single world.
The Imperial Marines deploy a set of smaller units.
- Planetary Deployments
- Regiment: Commanded by a Coronel
- Brigade: Commanded by a Brigadier
- Division: Commanded by a Brigadier-General appointed Subsector Marshal. These are always ad-hoc units. e.g. 99th Provisional Imperial Marine Division

- Team: Commanded by a Corporal
- Squad: Commanded by a Lance Sergeant or Sergeant
