The rank of Brigadier General (O7) is the commissioned officer rank in the Imperial Army that either commands a Brigade, or is Deputy-Commander of a Division (or has duties of similar importance on the General Staff). It is the most junior general officer rank.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Each Brigade in the Imperial Army Ground Forces Command, many Mercenary units, and those few Huscarle units of this size will be commanded by a Brigadier General. Several staff posts at Division level or higher are also held by Officers with this rank.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army Close Orbit and Airspace Control Command is Air Commodore.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army Nautical Force Command is Sea Commodore.
The equivalent rank in other services are:
- Imperial Navy: Commodore.
- Imperial Marines: Either Brigadier or Brigadier General.
Appointment to the rank of Brigadier General will at least cause the individual to rise to the level of social distinction of an Imperial Gentleman in Imperial Society by default should he not already be of a more prestigious background personally. [1] Under the right circumstances, the appointment to this rank may attract the title of Knight. [2]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The word "brigadier" derives from the same root as the word "brigade" but the precise origin of "brigade" is obscure. However, the title is meaning The general officer who commands a brigade.
