The rank of Sergeant Major (E9) is the non-commissioned officer rank in the Imperial Army for the most senior non-commissioned officer in an Imperial Army Battalion.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Each Battalion in the Imperial Army has one Sergeant Major who is the most senior Sergeant in the unit. Some Imperial Army staff appointments are also by Sergeant Majors
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Navy is Master Chief Petty Officer.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Marines is Sergeant Major.
The Sergeant Major attached to the staff of the Lord Marshal of the Unified Armies has the title Sergeant Major Imperial and represents the enlisted ranks of the Imperial Army to the most senior Officers as well as undertaking other, mostly ceremonial, duties.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The term sergeant refers to a non-commissioned officer placed above the rank of a corporal. The term sergeant major thus refers to the chief of these sergeants.
