The rank of First Lieutenant (O2) is the commissioned officer rank in the Imperial Army that commands a Platoon or has duties of similar importance.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Each Platoon in the Imperial Army and many Mercenary and Huscarle units will be commanded by a Lieutenant under a Captain. Several administrative and staff posts at Battalion level or higher are also held by Officers with this rank.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army Close Orbit and Airspace Control Command is Flying Officer.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army Nautical Force Command is Sub-Lieutenant.

The term Lieutenant is indicative of this rank being derived from the role of being the deputy commander of a Company under a Captain.
