Detachment

A Military Unit recognised by the Imperial Army.

Description (Specifications)

A unit sized between a Company and a Battalion.

A Detachment is typically commanded by a Major (Imperial Army) or Force Commander (Imperial Marines).

Detachments generally have no integral logistical support and are not usually capable of sustained deployments away from such support.

History & Background (Dossier)

The unit of a Company, and a Battalion, are long-standing standard definitions that has been around since pre-space days. A Detachment is an ad-hoc formation and the name has been used for many years, but a detachment has no standard organisation.
