The Maru class Merchant is a mercantile starship.
- It is a civilian ship and a Merchant.
Description
Using a 500-ton, TL13 hull, the Maru class Far Merchant mounts jump drive-E, maneuver drive-C, and power plant-E, giving a performance of jump-2 and 1G acceleration. Fuel tankage supports a 2 parsec jump, at 50t per parsec, and one month of operations. Attached to the bridge is a Model/3 computer. There are 16 staterooms and 14 low berths. Installed weaponry include 2 triple turret Sandcasters and 3 triple turret Pulse Lasers. Cargo capacity is 190 tons. The ship has an unstreamlined hull.
Carried craft include a 10 ton Lifeboat. The ship requires 9 crew: captain/pilot, astrogator, two engineers, steward, medic, and three gunners. Additional gunners may be added. It can carry 7 high or medium passengers and 14 low passengers.
