Description (Specifications)

The Fast Escort is a historical design produced in the Terran Confederation during the early 22nd century. These ships fled the Destruction of Terra at the hands of the Vilani Imperium in 2147AD, forming the fighting core of the Last Armada and carrying with them the last remnants of Terran culture and independence. The class were extremely sturdy and reliable and endured more than a century of spaceflight. They ultimately found and settled the Demon Cluster, the Distant Fringe. The vessel is constructed as a long-range design and has extended range capability.

1.	Tonnage	The Fast Escort is constructed using a 1,200 Ton hull built in a Wedge configuration. The hull is fully streamlined, giving fair atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems. There are multiple airlocks located around the vessel. The cargo hold is accessed by large doors and has a loading ramp. The configuration of the hull prevents surface landings without the use of a hull cradle to support the vessel. The vessel has sturdy retractable legs, allowing surface landings.
2.	Crew	27 personnel. 3 Officers. 24 Enlisted, including 1 Security. Accommodations There are 14 Staterooms. All quarters are double occupancy. There are 14 Low Berths. These hold the Frozen Watch. The low berths are tended by the vessel's medical staff. Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There are multiple emergency lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-5 drive, and a Power Plant-5, giving performance of Jump-2 and 5-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 4 and an emergency agility of 4. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for two consecutive Jump-2s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section has a main control room. Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery. The jump drive utilizes a lanthanum hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/5fib computer: no backup computer is installed. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a standard sensor array, and has an avionics suite. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command. It is equipped with a sophisticated ECM package.

6.	Armament	The normal weapons fit-out for a Fast Escort class is: 1 triple Beam Laser turret, forming its own battery. 1 dual Plasma Gun turret, forming its own battery. 1 100-Ton bay, mounting a Heavy Missile Launcher.

8.	Craft	Flight Section 1x 20-Ton Launch The Launch is housed in a dedicated hanger: the hanger can be sealed and has a total volume of 26 Tons.
9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 540 Tons. The hull is fitted with fuel scoops. The vessel is equipped with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours: the plant is operated and maintained by the engineering crew.

These ships fled Earth as part of the Expedition, that fled the Destruction of Terra at the hands of the Vilani Imperium in 2147AD, carrying with them the last remnants of Terran culture and independence, and ultimately settled the Distant Fringe.

carries enough internal for a Jump-2 followed by another Jump-2 on internal fuel and can be fitted with drop tanks as needed to cross larger rift zones. It is equipped with scoops and on board purification for ocean refueling should that opportunity present itself. There is a frozen watch to share and rotate the duties over the long voyage. It carries the best 100 ton missile bay available to deal with aggressive threats in the unknown region of space. There is a battery of triple beam laser turrets (used to shoot down approaching rocks and space debris), and two fusion guns for point defense. It has a model 5 fib computer and because of the demands for extra fuel for greater range it is not armored. It is capable of 5-Gs acceleration and has a 4-Agility rating.
